Safety & Moderation

Ruck is designed to provide a safe, respectful, and community-centered environment for meeting people. This page explains how content is moderated, how we keep users safe, and what tools are available if you encounter inappropriate behavior. Please see our Privacy Policy on how your data is stored and processed for moderation purposes.

Our Approach

We combine automated systems, manual review, and user reporting tools to prevent inappropriate or abusive content from appearing in the app. We apply the same standards to all user-generated content, including profiles, photos, events, and messages.

Terms and Conduct

All users agree to our Terms of Service when creating an account. These terms make it clear that there is no tolerance for abusive, explicit, illegal, or discriminatory behavior. Violations can result in content removal, restrictions, or full account suspension.

Automated Image Moderation

All profile photos and event banners are automatically checked using an image-moderation system at the point of upload. Any image flagged as likely to contain adult, racy, violent, medical, or otherwise inappropriate content is rejected before it becomes visible to anyone.

In addition to automated checks, all newly submitted images are manually reviewed within twenty-four hours to ensure compliance with our guidelines.

Text Moderation for Public Fields

We periodically review public profile fields, such as the β€œbio” section and event descriptions, using automated text-moderation tools. These scans help identify content that may be inappropriate, unsafe, or harmful. Anything flagged is reviewed manually by a moderator.

Private messages are not included in these scans.

Reporting Tools

If you encounter content or behavior that you believe violates our standards, you can report it directly in the app. These reports are reviewed by our moderation team.

Ways to report:

  • Profiles: Open the profile, select the menu in the top right toolbar, and choose Report User (this will also block the user)

  • Photos and private albums: Use the flag icon in the toolbar

  • Events: Tap the flag icon on the event page

  • Chat messages: Long-press a message and select Report

Reported content is stored safely in our moderation system even if a user deletes it, so moderators can always review the exact material.

Review and Enforcement

A dedicated moderation team reviews all reports and flagged items. Actions may include content removal, warnings, temporary restrictions, or account bans. We also comply with relevant legal requirements if conduct poses harm or risk.

User Safety

We encourage respectful interactions and ask all users to treat others with decency and care. If you feel unsafe or believe someone else is at risk, please report the content or behavior immediately.
